Gastroscopy, also called upper endoscopy, is a procedure in which a thin flexible tube (endoscope) examines the upper digestive tract. This tube is inserted into the mouth and travels down the food pipe (esophagus), following the stomach and the first part of the small intestine (duodenum), to get a vision of these areas.
