Golimumab belongs to a class of medications called tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitors that work by blocking the action of TNF, an inflammation-causing substance in the body. Golimumab injection is used to ease the symptoms of many autoimmune disorders including rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, and ulcerative colitis. The medication may cause side effects such as redness, itching, bruising, pain, or swelling at the injection site.
