Blood in the urine is called hematuria which can be either gross or microscopic. Urine appears pink, red, or cola-colored and is generally not painful. Urinary tract infections, pyelonephritis, renal stones, prostate enlargement, glomerulonephritis, tumors of the renal system, sickle cell anemia, renal injury, medications, or strenuous exercise is responsible for causing hematuria.
