Hemoptysis is a condition where one may cough up blood. This blood is coming straight from the lungs and is a symptom of some form of underlying lung disease. It can be anything ranging from acute bronchitis, tuberculosis, and pneumonia to lung cancer. Along with blood, there may be sputum too. One should seek urgent medical care if the amount of coughing up blood keeps going up.
