Medical Conditions - Hiatal Hernia

A hiatal hernia occurs while the upper part of the stomach bulges through the diaphragm, which is the large muscle separating the abdomen and chest. When the hernia is small, it does not cause any symptoms, and when it is large, it makes food and acid regurgitate back into the esophagus and results in heartburn.
