Common causes of hip pain include rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, bursitis, tendonitis, sprain, strain, labral tear, and fractures. Sciatica can also present like hip pain. Hip pains can cause discomfort in the thighs, buttock, and groin region too. Pain killers, DMARDs, ice packs, rest, and hip supporting braces can relieve hip pains due to minor causes. Hip muscle strengthening exercises can be practiced regularly post-recovery to prevent future recurrence. Pain for prolonged periods should never be ignored, and immediate medical help should be sought.
