Hoarseness of voice can be due to less serious causes like vocal strain, common cold, pharyngitis, cough, acid reflux, and more serious causes like polyps, throat cancer, smoking, and abnormal thyroid levels. Giving rest to the voice, drinking plenty of water, treating infections with antibiotics, limiting smoking and alcohol, etc., are measures to reverse voice hoarseness.
