Overactivation of the spleen is known as hypersplenism. Over-activation of the spleen may occur due to various conditions like liver disorders, autoimmune disorders, blood cancers, and inherited metabolic disorders like Niemann-Pick disease, and Gaucher disease. This may cause conditions like anemia, low white blood cell count, and low platelet count.
