Medical Conditions - Idiopathic Systemic Capillary Leak Syndrome

Idiopathic systemic capillary leak syndrome is characterized by acute and severe episodes of vascular permeability that causes massive plasma leakage from the blood vessels into the surrounding body cavities and muscles. This results in a sharp decline in blood pressure. If not treated, it can cause organ failure and death. Symptoms include fatigue, irritability, abdominal pain, muscle aches, and a sudden increase in body weight. There is no known cure, so the treatment involves managing the symptoms and preventing future attacks, which includes monthly infusions of intravenous immunoglobulins.
