A tooth that has been blocked by adjacent teeth, bone, or gums from erupting into the mouth is called an impacted tooth. The symptoms that result from a tooth getting impacted are red and swollen gums, food impaction, bad breath, pain on chewing, and difficulty opening the mouth. The wisdom teeth and canines are the teeth that commonly get impacted.
