The Kell antigen system is also known as the Kell-Cellano system. It is a cluster of antigens on the surface of the human red blood cells which are vital determinants of blood type and are markers for autoimmune and alloimmune disorders which detonate the red blood cells. The Kell antigens are peptides present within the kell protein, a 93 kilodalton transmembrane zinc-dependent endopeptidase which is accountable for cleaving endothelin-3.
