LDH is called lactate dehydrogenase. It is an enzyme that plays an important role in the production of energy in the body. It is present mostly in all the tissues of the body, including blood, kidney, heart, lungs, and brain. It is released in the blood when the tissue gets damaged due to injury or disease. LDH test is usually done in cases of anemia, liver disease, lung disease, and some form of infection. The normal LDH ranges from 140 U/L to 280 U/L.
