Leg length discrepancy or anisomelia is a condition where the lower leg is of unequal length. It can be due to trauma, fracture, degenerative disorders, infections, or cancer. Functionally it can be due to soft tissue shortening, joint contractions, or excessive ankle pronation. When the legs are not of equal length, the spin may bend towards the side of the smaller portion and increase the activity of muscles. Advising a shoe lift and physiotherapy can relieve the symptoms. However, surgical intervention is required when the difference between the leg is more significant.
