Leuprolide or Leuprorelin comes under the gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonists drug group. They initially increase serum estradiol and testosterone levels to signal the hypothalamus-pituitary-gonadal axis, thereby reducing serum estradiol and testosterone levels. Leuprolide acetate injections are used to treat hormone-related diseases such as prostate and breast cancer, endometriosis, precocious puberty, fibroids, and transgender hormone therapy. Adverse effects are night sweats, hot flashes, headache, constipation, pain or burning sensation at the injection site, vaginal bleeding, insomnia, impotence, etc. They are available as Lupron in the market.
