The sudden sharp, shooting pain that feels like an electrical bolt from the vagina or the pelvic area that occurs during pregnancy is known as a lightning crotch. It feels different for each pregnant woman. It is usually momentary and could mean that the pregnant woman's cervix is dilating (opening up) for the delivery of the baby.
