Malignant hyperthermia is an uncommon genetic condition that results in severe reactions to general anesthesia and certain medications. It is a life-threatening condition that results in hyperthermia (increased body temperature), muscle rigidity, an increase in heart rate, rapid breathing, and muscle breakdown. Without appropriate treatment, the condition leads to life-threatening complications like cardiac arrest, renal failure, and multiple organ dysfunction.
