Medical Conditions - Mucus In Stool

Mucus is a jelly substance present in the stool. Having a large amount of visible mucus in stool indicates a sign of digestive problems. Increased mucus in the stool occurs in conditions such as Crohn's disease, cystic fibrosis, ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, intestinal infection, and anal fissures. It needs treatment if it occurs with other symptoms such as blood in stool, abdominal pain, and changes in bowel movements. It is treated depending on the cause.
