Multiple system atrophy (also known as MSA) is a neurological disorder that is degenerative in nature and affects the autonomous (involuntary) functions and movements of the body. Multiple system atrophy is a rare condition characterized by altered blood pressure and breathing, impaired bladder functioning, and loss of motor control. The exact cause of MSA is unknown and the neurological disorder causes the shrinking of certain areas of the brain.
