The presence of myoglobin in the urine, which is a protein in the muscles that binds iron and oxygen, is called myoglobinuria. It is seen in conditions that damage the muscles like trauma, rhabdomyolysis, malignant hyperthermia, and polymyositis. The signs and symptoms of myoglobinuria are painful and tender muscles, fever, nausea, and dark urine.
