Neuritis is a medical word for nerve injury, specifical inflammation in the peripheral nerves that causes structural abnormalities. Sharp pain, tingling, or burning sensations along the nerve's length are common symptoms. Problems vary depending on which nerve is affected: optic neuritis causes eye symptoms, trigeminal neuralgia causes facial symptoms, and so on.
