A neutrophil is a type of white blood cell formed from the stem cells in the bone marrow. They produce an immune response against infectious microorganisms affecting the body. The increased neutrophil count is called neutrophilia, and it occurs due to infections and trauma. Neutropenia is a condition where there is a low neutrophil count level, and it is observed in severe bacterial infections.
