Palinopsia is a rare visual disorder in which the repeated occurrence of visual images occurs even after the stimulus is removed. The cause may be idiopathic (unknown). This may be due to medications and trauma to the head; it is of two types, namely hallucinatory and illusory palinopsia. The treatment includes prescribing alternate drugs causing palinopsia, tinted lenses, sunglasses, and neuron excitability; decreasing medications such as Clonidine, Gabapentin, and Acetazolamide are prescribed.
