Pangastritis is a chronic condition wherein inflammation of the lining of the entire stomach that is oxyntic and antral mucosa of the upper and lower part of the stomach occurs in contrast to regular gastritis where only a part of the stomach lining is affected. Symptoms simulate regular gastritis like abdominal pain, nausea, stomach fullness, etc. Helicobacter pylori, stress, too many pain killers, alcoholism, etc., causes pangastritis. Treatment includes antibiotics, antacids, H2 blockers, and proton pump inhibitors. Reducing alcohol intake, food and drinks rich in caffeine and fat, acidic or spicy foods, etc., are advised. Probiotics are of use.
