Panniculitis occurs due to various bacterial or viral infections, inflammatory diseases, injuries, medications, or external stimuli. Medications to treat this condition involve nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, antibiotics, potassium iodide, and steroid drugs to relieve the symptoms.
