Periventricular leukomalacia (PVL) is the condition where the white tissue near the ventricles softens due to injury or death. It is the condition that occurs due to low or no oxygen supply to the brain that eventually degenerates its tissue. PVL in babies has a higher chance of having cerebral palsy.
