Proctoscopy is a diagnostic test done to identify problems affecting the rectum (end of the large intestine) and anus (opening of the rectum). Here, a hollow and flexible tube, called the proctoscope, is inserted into the rectum through the anus. It is done to diagnose cancer of the rectum or anus, hemorrhoids, polyps, cause of rectal bleeding, etc.
