Pure tone audiometry is a hearing test used for measuring hearing sensitivity. It measures both peripheral and central auditory systems. In this test, the patient wears earphones attached to the audiometer. Pure tones of a specific frequency are delivered to one ear. The patient is asked to give a signal when they hear sound. The volume required to hear each tone is marked with a graph.
