Ranitidine is a drug that belongs to the group histamine-2 blockers. It is used to treat conditions like gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcer disease, and Zollinger-Ellison disease, as it reduces acid production in the stomach. Ranitidine (Zantac) has recently been taken off the market, in the suspicion of increasing the risk of cancer.
