Renal agenesis is a congenital disorder in which a newborn baby is born without one or both kidneys. Usually, kidneys develop between the fifth to twelfth week of fetal life. Renal agenesis occurs due to developmental failure of the ureteric bud and metanephric mesenchyme. Children with one kidney do not develop any symptoms or complications, and this condition does not require treatment. Bilateral renal agenesis occurs with the absence of both kidneys in the baby. There is no treatment for this condition.
