Retention cysts are benign lesions present at the base of the maxillary floor sinus. These cysts are usually asymptomatic and rounded or dome-shaped. Retention cysts approximately affect 29 % to 31 % of the adult population. Since the condition does not cause any pain or symptoms, they are often incidentally discovered in imaging tests done for other diseases. In rare cases, symptoms like headache, nasal obstruction, and peri-orbital pain may be present.
