Medical Conditions - Roughness Of Voice

A rough or raspy voice is most commonly caused by an abnormality in the vocal cords. Allergy in the vocal cords, laryngitis, and laryngopharyngeal reflux are the common causes of a rough voice. An otolaryngologist will examine the underlying cause of the roughness of voice and treat the condition accordingly. Voice therapy is recommended to improve the tone of the voice.
