The inflammation of the fallopian tubes caused due to bacterial infection is termed salpingitis. It is generally considered a pelvic inflammatory disease. Common causes include sexually transmitted diseases such as caused by chlamydia and gonorrhea. In addition, it can be a common cause of female infertility as it causes damage to the fallopian tubes. Common treatment options include oral or intravenous antibiotics depending on the severity of the infection.
