Selenium sulfide is an inorganic chemical compound used in treating fungal infections like dandruff, pityriasis versicolor, and seborrheic dermatitis in the form of shampoos and lotion. Adverse effects include skin irritation, generalized weakness, fatigue, and hair loss. Dandruff may recur upon its discontinuation. It is known to react with metal jewelry; hence their removal before use is recommended.
