Medical Conditions - Serum Calcium Level

Calcium is a mineral that provides strength to the teeth and bones. It helps maintain proper functions in the muscles and nerves. Serum calcium is determined by the amount of calcium present in the blood, and the normal level is between 8.5 and 10.5 mg/dL. Serum calcium is measured to diagnose bone and parathyroid diseases. Low calcium levels can cause tingling in lips, abnormal heart rhythms, and muscle spasms.
