A serious allergic reaction caused due to mosquito bites is known as Skeeter's syndrome. This is due to the proteins present in the mosquito saliva. The area bit by the mosquito swells significantly along with a fever. Ice application over the bitten area helps soothe and reduce the swelling. Though it heals and regresses on its own, antihistamines and topical steroids help alleviate the symptoms. Prevention of mosquito bites is necessary.
