Spigelian hernia is a type of ventral hernia that occurs in the lower quadrant of the stomach. This hernia is developed between muscles and the fascia. There might not be visible swelling as it occurs between the muscles. Abdominal pain, constipation, soft swelling in the abdomen, etc., are some indications of this hernia. Trauma, chronic cough, frequent straining by weight lifting, etc., are some of the causes for Spigelian hernia. Diagnosis can be made with ultrasound, CT scans, etc. Surgery is the only treatment option to correct this hernia.
