Thornwaldt cyst, also spelled as Tornwaldt cyst, is a noncancerous developmental cyst that occurs in the upper posterior nasopharynx. It is mostly asymptomatic. However, an infected cyst might produce a foul-smelling discharge into the mouth, which causes halitosis. No treatment is required for an asymptomatic lesion.
