Tizanidine belongs to a class of drugs called skeletal muscle relaxants. It slows down the action in the brain and nervous system to help the muscles relax. It helps relieve the spasms, cramps, and increased muscle tone caused by medical conditions such as multiple sclerosis, brain or spinal injury, and stroke. It is available in two formulations- tablet and capsule. Tizanidine may cause side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, depression, vomiting, dry mouth, constipation, diarrhea, weakness, heartburn, stomach pain, back pain, rashes, sore throat, speech disorders, and sweating. Therefore, people must follow the dosage recommended by the doctors.
