Vocal cord paralysis is a condition in which the muscles that control the voice cannot be moved. Head, neck, or chest injuries can cause vocal cord paralysis. Changes in voice, difficulty breathing, and swallowing are common symptoms of vocal cord paralysis. Voice therapy may be recommended in the management of mild vocal cord paralysis.
