Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have pimple scars or acne on both my cheeks. Can this be removed? if yes how?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your first query consult is on us!

Pimple is mostly hormonal and due to oily skin. I suggest you follow the following:

1. Do not use hair oil and any sticky cream on the face.

2. Avoid oily food, chocolate, and milk products.

3. Avoid dust, use a sunscreen(above 30 SPF) while outdoors.

4. Do not rub any cream on the face.

5. Do not use any steroid creams.

6. Continue treatment for at least a month.

7. Facewash or soaps are not a part of the treatment and are not much useful.

8. Do not touch the acne, and avoid pressing it.

For treatment, I suggest you use:

1. Clintop, Faceclin, Cleargel (Clindamycin 1 percent w/w) - this is more preventive and curative. Use it all over the face in the morning.

2. Adalene, Differine (Adapalene gel 0.1 percent w/w) – Use it over acne at night.

3. Tablet Doxycycline 100 mg once a day.

Post-acne scars are three types box scars, icepick (pin-point scars), and rolling scars. Pin-point scars are difficult to treat while box scars are easy. No creams or tablets can help you out with scars. The best technique is Fractional carbon dioxide laser, along with subcision. It takes five to six sittings, but the results are better than any other procedure. Derma roller and subcision is another method, but it is less effective than the above. Filler helps to have a hiding effect, as it fills the pits and gives an impression of fullness. However, it is not permanent. Chemical peels could be effective if scars are not much prominent.

These are some treatments you can consider. All procedures take four to six sittings and at least five to six months for better results.
