Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have oily skin with reddish scars. I have been using Clindamycin phosphate gel for acne, but it has not helped much. What can I do to reduce the reddish color and acne on my face?
Kindly help.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com
I hope you are doing well. I have gone through the history. It appears to be acne vulgaris.
Multiple reasons, including external factors, may cause acne:
Genetic susceptibility occurs when a similar condition runs in the family.
Hormonal fluctuations, especially androgen levels, result in the formation of acne during prepuberty and puberty age groups.
Due to using any skincare products that are causing skin to break out, due to stress, due to unhealthy dietary intake, and climate change.
The internal factors that can cause acne:
A change in sebum or oil secretion causes the release of excess oil, which triggers bacteria in the form of redness and acne.
They may appear on and off depending on the various external and internal factors mentioned. External factors may be controlled by medications and lifestyle modifications.
My advice to you is :
Use a foaming face wash to cleanse your face in the morning and evening. Apply a sufficient quantity and massage in gentle circular motions for one minute, and wash it off. You can use this continuously for months.
Clinmiskin gel (Clindamycin and Nicotinamide) can be used in the morning after using the facial cleanser. This gel may be applied only on the acne spots. It will help reduce the current acne and the redness associated with it.
Peroclin 2.5% gel (Benzoyl peroxide and Clindamycin) to be used at night after using the face wash. Use this gel on the acne spots only at night. In case of sensitivity or burning sensation, this medication may be avoided. Make sure there is no previous history of allergy to Benzoyl peroxide before using this medication.
In case of allergy to this medication, Clinmiskin gel can be used at night as well.
Avoid oily and fried food, milk and dairy products, sweets, and red meat. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her, and take the medicines with their consent.
Make sure to include more fruits, vegetables, fiber, and at least 10 glasses of water per day in a 250 ml glass size.
As you have not mentioned your age and not provided an image, it is difficult to assess the severity of acne and to provide any oral medication depending on your weight and age.
I would like to request that you provide an image to assess the severity of acne further and to give the oral medication if required.
I hope the details provided above were informative and provided clarity.
Thank you.
