What is the best treatment for a melanocytic nevus patch?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a skin patch on my body, and I am concerned about it. Kindly check the attached image and let me know what the condition might be and what treatment I should follow.

This pigmentation has been present for seven days. No itching or burning sensation. It is on both sides of the chest, shoulder, back, and armpit.

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understood your concern.

I reviewed your photo (attachments removed to protect the patient’s identity). This is a kind of melanocytic nevus. It will be asymptomatic. Medicine will not help very much. The only point against this diagnosis is the short history of seven days, because it usually takes a longer duration to develop.

At present, one of the effective treatment options is laser therapy, which will improve the condition in a few sessions with the use of an appropriate laser. There is no specific cause for the recent development. It can develop for the first time at any age and without any underlying trigger. If possible, please share photos of the other sites as well.

I hope that this answers your query.

Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.

Thank you.
