Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My uncle is having liver and kidney issues and has severe hypertensive gastropathy. But he is consuming alcohol while he is having jaundice, and now his stomach and both legs are swollen. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

Firstly, liver damage (may be permanent or irreversible), gastropathy, kidney involvement, and possibly even the swelling of the stomach and legs) are due to chronic alcohol consumption. Kidney failure and swelling over the body can be due to uncontrolled high blood pressure, which has probably caused heart failure. Swelling over the body can also be due to kidney failure. Consider it as an emergency and consult a cardiologist, nephrologist, and gastroenterologist at the earliest.

I am confident that you will benefit from the above-mentioned advice.

I assure you that I am always available for your assistance. My endeavor would always be to give you sound medical advice, to the best of my knowledge and vast experience.

Thank you.
