Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am the parent of a 6-month-old baby girl. Recently, I have noticed that her right pupil appears to be smaller than her left pupil. I have attached two photos for your reference. I want to emphasize that aside from this observation, our daughter appears to be fit and healthy, and we have not received any concerns or feedback from anyone else. However, this difference in pupil size has raised some questions and concerns for us as parents. Could you please provide some insights into whether this is a normal variation at her age, or if it requires further evaluation and attention? Your expertise and guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to cliniq.com.
Thank you for your query.
Differences in the pupil size, known as anisocoria, can have various causes. Potential causes include benign physiological anisocoria, where the pupils naturally differ in size without any underlying issue. However, it could also be due to neurological or ophthalmic concerns that require attention. A professional evaluation will help to determine the cause and guide any necessary next steps in ensuring your baby's well-being.
I hope this helps. Thank you.
