Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I deal with anxiety and stress when I talk to people as it triggers a trauma response in me. I tend to visually blur the people I am talking with, like a dissociative thing, and as soon as I do that, I see them quickly look away while they are talking to me, or they will tend to lose their train of thought. I think something happens when my eyes might slightly go in different directions because of possible dissociation, but it happens so often that people think I am weird, and it is becoming difficult to make friends. I am concerned about the reason behind this and would like to know if this is a mental disorder. Kindly suggest.

Thank you.

Hello,Welcome to icliniq.com.I can understand your concern. While I cannot provide a specific diagnosis as a language model, your description suggests a potential link to dissociative symptoms, particularly those associated with depersonalization-derealization disorder (DPDR). DPDR often involves feeling detached from oneself or perceiving the environment as surreal and distorted, which can include visual changes like blurring or depersonalization. However, other possibilities such as anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), or even neurological conditions cannot be ruled out without proper evaluation. Navigating these experiences can be challenging, and seeking professional support is a proactive step toward managing symptoms and fostering healthy relationships.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
