Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 26 weeks pregnant. I am taking antiplatelet medication Aspirin 150 mg after the first scan and my doctor suggested continuing the medication till 34 weeks. I would like to know whether it is safe to take this Aspirin during the last trimester.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern.

Aspirin is a medication that is often prescribed to pregnant women to reduce the risk of certain pregnancy complications such as preeclampsia and fetal growth restriction. It works by preventing blood clots and improving blood flowing to the uterus. According to current medical guidelines, low-dose Aspirin therapy is considered safe during pregnancy when used for certain medical conditions and under the supervision of a healthcare provider. Also said that up to 37 weeks of pregnancy it is a common recommendation for pregnant women who are at higher risk for preeclampsia or other pregnancy-related complications. So yes, it is safe in third trimester.

I hope this has helped you.

Thanks and regards.
