Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 29-year-old female and I have severe eosinophilic asthma with overlapping EGPA. Blood eos 1200, FeNO 90ppb. Failed Mepolizumab and Benralizumab. Requiring monthly Methylpred pulses. A recent cardiac MRI shows early vasculitis. Should I consider Tezepelumab? Does any data on vasculitis overlap? Insurance requires an appeal.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
Tezepelumab is a relatively new medication approved for severe asthma. It targets thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP), a cytokine involved in airway inflammation.
Regarding its use in vasculitis overlap, there is limited data. However, Tezspire has shown promise in reducing eosinophilic inflammation, which might benefit patients with overlapping EGPA (eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis).
Sharing medical information-
To better understand your situation and provide more specific guidance, it would be helpful to share the following medical information:
1. Blood reports: Recent blood test results, including eosinophil count and IgE (immunoglobulin E) levels.
2. Pulmonary function tests (PFTs): Recent PFT results, including FEV1 (forced expiratory volume in one second) and FVC (forced vital capacity) values.
3. Previous medications: A list of medications tried in the past, including dosages and duration of treatment.
4. Current medications: A list of current medications, including dosages and frequency.
5. Cardiac MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) results: The recent cardiac MRI report showed early vasculitis.
6. Asthma treatment plan: A copy of your current asthma treatment plan, including any adjustments made recently.
I hope this helps.
Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.
Thank you.
