Can atopic dermatitis cause dryness and pimples on my face?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

What is atopic dermatitis? I have dry skin on my face. These areas are always dry and have small elevations, like very small pimples. I think my condition is related to some skin disease, like atopic dermatitis or something else. Please help me find the actual problem with my skin.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

It is difficult to tell exactly without a photograph. It can be atopic but seborrheic, too. How much is the itching? What aggravated it? What cosmetics do you use? For symptomatic relief, you must take a Loratadine (antihistamine) tablet once daily. Apply a moisturizer and sunscreen, which are available in your area. A good photograph and the above history are needed to arrive at a diagnosis.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.
