Autism spectrum disorder is a developmental neurological disorder characterized by difficult and defective social interaction, social communication (verbal and nonverbal), and restricted, repetitive behavioral pattern. They lack attention. They may or may not develop language, intellectual, and motor skills. If they acquire these skills, they can be delayed. Elderly parents, prematurity, and low birth weight are attributed to its etiology. Treatment options include behavioral therapy and medications.
