Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a bitter taste in my throat, have felt drowsy all day, and my stomach is empty yet am not willing to eat anything. Please assist me, doctor.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

A bitter taste in the mouth or throat may be caused by stomach acid reflux or upward movement of this acid. If you have it on a regular basis, you may have chest discomfort (heartburn), hiccups or eructation, pain in the upper area of your abdomen (epigastrium), nausea, vomiting, and other symptoms. The causes are varied, but the most typical ones include irregular eating habits, obesity, stress, infection (if protracted), and chronic constipation. Occasionally, fatty or spicy meals might set off the reflux. Find the cause and see your local doctor about making some lifestyle adjustments or taking appropriate drugs (antacids, antibiotic course for infection, laxatives or purgatives for acute constipation, and some modifications for persistent constipation).

I hope I have answered your question.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards.
